After attending a number of births as a photographer and witnessing just how much of a difference a doula can make I decided to began the process of certification with DONA international. I have had doula present at three of my own births and knew they made a tangible in birth outcomes but actually witnessing it as a bystander really drove it home for me!
Women supporting women during childbirth is an ancient tradition. Having a birth doula has proven to increase the likely hood of a positive, uncomplicated birth. I love getting to be a part of this beautiful tradition! I feel like every women could benefit from the support and expertise a doula has to offer, no matter the kind of birth they have planned!
I have always had an interest in photography. I remember getting one of those polaroid i-zone cameras as a child (you know the little ones that instantly printed mini photos.) I used to photograph everything from that little thing! From there I went through numerous 'point and shoot' cameras. As my interest grew into a passion I upgraded to the canon line of DSLR cameras.
Over the past several years I began to hone in on my passion for motherhood photography. Motherhood is so raw and so beautiful! I love taking the time to really listen to a women share her journey with me. It doesn't matter if she is expecting her first baby or her fifth and beyond! Being a mother myself, hearing a women share stories of her own journey moves me on a personal level. I aim to capture all of the real and raw moments of motherhood.
I am an Air Force wife and mother to four wonderful children! I have one daughter M(7) and three sons L(5), S(3) and C(7mo). We spend the summers hiking, camping and gardening. When the weather is chilly we can be found crafting and making hearty soups. I love to cook and feel great pride when those I cook for go back for seconds!
I am a christian and I love Jesus with all of my heart! I don't believe in discriminating against a person for their own set of beliefs. I believe that Jesus loves every single person. I just love people. Period.
I am a native Texan and a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. I know, I know they kind of suck but my loyalty runs deep. I was born a Cowboy's fan and I will die one. One day they will win another ring and I will be annoyingly ecstatic! Seriously though. You may want to avoid me WHEN they finally win another Super Bowl (I'm only kind of kidding).
My days are spent watching my children learn and grow. We. play. We read. We learn. I can't imagine my life without them. Even on the hardest days I wouldn't trade them for anything (not even Adam Levine). Motherhood is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of my life. I believe in being genuine and sharing this truth with other mothers. Motherhood creates a full spectrum of emotions and that's ok!
My nights are spent reading books or watching adult animation shows in bed with my hubby. We have recently discovered the amazing-ness that is Bob's Burgers. Seriously- watch the show. It's hilarious! You won't regret it! Send me a message with your favorite Bob's quote and I will give you a sweet 10% discount! :)
